Perimeter Security Breaches:
Chain Link Fence

Over the last few years, we have seen an increase in the number of incidents across the United States where vehicles have crashed through perimeter and access control area chain link fence only to penetrate the interior of a secure perimeter causing a security breach.

In one nationally known, televised incident a vehicle drove through an airport’s chain link perimeter fence and then drove onto the tarmac.  The vehicle was then pursued by airport police onto an active runway causing major operational and security disruptions.  This is one of many examples of where a security breach has occurred by vehicle driving through a chain link fence.

Risk Mitigation Considerations: Reinforcing Chain Link Fence with the SW1200 Post & Cable

From a risk mitigation and best practices standpoint, it is essential that facilities and security professionals understand the importance of reinforcing their existing chain link fence with Global GRAB’s SW1200 Post & Cable as a “multi-layered” strategy to adequately secure the perimeter and key access control points they are responsible for.

The SW1200 is ASTM M50/P2 Crash Certified (15,000 lb., truck at 50 mph), U.S. Department of Homeland Security SAFETY Act Certified as an “Approved Product for Homeland Security” and is on the DoD Anti-Ram Barrier List.
